Hacienda La Laguna is one of the oldest coffee plantations in the country, famous for the quality of its coffee for export, J & S La Laguna, since 1856.
Hacienda La Laguna is also well known for the gardens and home of Ileana Terán, an enthusiastic orchid grower, conservationist, and founder of SACRO Foundation
In her garden, she cultivates and propagates many costarican species and uses orchids as part of the landscape, where it is common to see beautiful sprays of oncidiums hanging from the trees and gorgeous terrestrial sobralias.
This wonderful garden resembles a tropical jungle where narrow paths and trails guide the visitors through all sort of ferns, philodendrums, anthuriums, bromeliads… There are national species as well as orchid hybrids in bloom.
